Grand Theft Auto fansite gta4.net is reporting that the latest issue of PSM Spain has broken the silence on the new multiplayer modes in the upcoming fourth sequel in the franchise.

In addition to 16 player support and fully customizable characters, there will be 15 different modes that include, among other things, races, deathmatch, a variation on cops and robbers and hitman levels where you race your opponents to take out different targets across the map.

According to the brief article, the multiplayer mode will also be set in the same version of the city as in single player mode. The host can alter different aspects of the city, such as number of pedestrians and traffic flow, to keep things running smoothly.

The thing that has me most excited about this is the cops and robbers mode.

My favorite thing to do in every Grand Theft Auto game since the third one is Vigilante mode, where you steal a police car and chase down perps before the cops can arrest them. Unlike normal GTA combat, these crooks do everything in their power to escape from you: stealing other cars, opening fire, crashing through traffic, causing widespread mayhem even without the added police presence trying to stop you.

Now, imagine that same scenario with real life players replacing the A.I.
